So Jake is now over 6 months old. He is sitting on his own, for the most part. He tends to lean a little left then right, then topples right over. He smiles and giggles constantly and is consistently trying to tell Andy and I that we never should have brought him into the family as he tries to suffocate himself every night. He rolls over until his face is buried in the crib bumper and then falls right to sleep. Its amazing. He is growing like crazy - at our last check up - he got his shots and weighed in at 20lbs, 7oz (he's actually lost a little bit of weight) and was 28inches long. If I remember, which don't quote me on this, he was in the 91st and 95th percentiles for weight and height respectively.
We have been incredibly busy over the last 2 months - or sick - it has been going back and forth constantly. All of us contracted a 24 hour stomach virus, that went through Andy, then Jake, then me. That was awesome. We are in the process of trying to bring Open Heart Surgery to our hospital, so I have been running around like a crazy person every day to get physician support and Andy has been selling tournaments like they are water in the desert. So needless to say, weekends have been spent sleeping or trying to catch up on laundry - which I think mostly consists of Jake's bibs, since he drools constantly.
Jake is still a great eater and seems to like almost all of the Step 1 foods - except peas and peaches. Peas, I completely understand, because I can't stand them either. As soon as he gets to eating 3 meals of solids consistently, we will move on to Step 2 - probably in the next month or so. No teeth, as of yet, but we did have a week or so where we thought one would break through any minute the way he was carrying on!
The last 2 months also consisted of getting together with 2 of the 3 family matriarchs. Jake has now flown on an airplane to Ohio on 2 seperate occasions and was a great flier, both times. He naturally was the cutest baby on all flights and won over many ladies - all flight attendants, while also getting some of the soldiers on board to crack some smiles back at him. I am always amazed at how laid back Jake is, since he certainly doesn't get that from me...thank goodness for Andy!!!
We really do enjoy him - Andy recently taught Jake how to give him 5's (which really is Jake hitting anything and Andy just happens to put his hand under Jake's, but we can't destroy his illusion of success!!!!). Here are some pics to catch up a little...oh yeah - we also celebrated my 11th anniversary of my 21st birthday...Andy bought me a cake. It was delicious and Jake really liked the icing and the ice cream. He already has a sweet tooth - he's in big trouble. We hope to hit the Georgia Aquarium with Jake soon, so I'll make sure to get those pics up within the next 3 months...JK!
