Texting while Driving already...and other cool stuff

Ring around the Roseola Virus

Team Dunn had a fantastic Memorial Day dealing with Jake's Roseola Virus. Granted we had no idea what it was or what he'd had a reaction to, but I must say our kid is a serious trooper. Thursday night he was running a temp of over 105 at one point - needless to say a little freaking out ensued and we called G & G Baur, Grandma MA and the Pediatrician office. Sorry we woke everyone! Got him in Friday and it was a virus in his throat - strep test negative and not hand foot, mouth disease. Yeah for us. Doc said fever would break within the next day - no mention of a rash, though, and so when he broke out Saturday night into a bright red polka dot, we had no idea what happened. He didn't have a fever and wasn't clawing at it, so we hung on until the doc office opened again Tuesday and we were back for the diagnosis. If only the doc had told me we (the parents) could get it too...since its 4:30AM and I am upddated the blog hyped up on Tylenol and sweating out a fever of 102.8. AWESOME! If I break out in a rash - I'll be sure to post those, as well, because my skin isn't sensitive enough! Good Grief! Team Dunn is over random childhood viruses!

First Time at the Pool

So we finally ventured to one of the pools in the neighborhood - It only took almost 3 years, so Andy figured that from the Homeowner's Association Dues we've paid we're down to $900/visit to the pool. We've been twice now. Jake loves the water and even better, loves to come home and take naps after we wear him out in the sun/water. He will kick in the deeper water, but he is more interested in just walking around. It seems easier in 1.5 feet of water, I guess. Enjoy the pics.

Milk, it does a body good. And the carton is fun to bang things on, too.

So we're in the 9th month of this crazy adventure and Jake is showing more and more personality every day. He isn't crawling or walking on his own, yet, but he has learned how to focus on a target in his walker, take aim, and go after them. The cat and dog hide when he's in the walker now. His last measurements were 23.5lbs (down a little and in the 62nd percentile for weight), 30.5in (99th percentile for height - no wonder his clothes are 18 mos) and 47cm for his head (50 something percentile - smaller than the doc thought it would be!). He is working on his pincer grasp and can do it really well with his right hand, getting there with the left. He loves pretty much anything that will fit in his mouth, but he loves ice cream - you can read the MORE across his face when he gets over the cold sensation. Still haven't gotten any more teeth - so the snaggle tooth remains. We encounter all the teething behaviors every day - drool, gnawing on anything and everything, more drool, but nothing, yet.

We have had some great visits with all the grandparents, which it took him awhile to get used to. He is in the seperating anxiety phase, so he freaked out when he saw the Baur's and MA. He gets over it pretty quickly, but it sure is LOUD. We have more pics on our camera at home and I will try to get those posted soon, as well.

Spring, Almost Summer (7-8 Months Old)

Does time move as fast for everyone else as it seems to for me? Jacob is a very active 8 month old...as you will see! He continues to grow and scream and eat then grow, scream and eat some more with an occasional bowel movement thrown in for good measure. He has mastered quite a few words, like Da-Da and AAGGGHHHHHHHHHH! Oh yes, as his mother, I am more proud than you could ever know. One day he may actually acknowledge my existence or who actually grew & delivered him to the world, but right now he is all about his DADDY! He constantly reaches for him, wants to play with him and laughs with him. We love our weekends and have been slack with the camera - sorry, folks. We did get to visit with the family a couple of weekend ago to celebrate Grampa Baur's birthday and it took him awhile, but he got the hang of the cousin thing. In fact, he loved Andrew and gave him plenty of hugs, he loved Emma for giving him Ritz crackers (yea, thanks, Emma) and he loved Mary Mac for trying to help him learn to drive the car/walker! Never a dull moment with those three around and I think Jake just liked watching them and trying to keep up with them - with his eyes only, of course. No crawling, yet, but he has to defy gravity in a single bound almost with those thighs holding him down! He loves his new walker (more about that later) and has become a terror in that thing - and discovered he can open cabinets and drawers - needless to say the baby-proofing has begun. Hope you enjoy these pictures and videos - we will try and get more pictures...if we remember to take the camera....

Jacob and I braved our first birthday party together as my friend Lauryn's son, Braden, turned one. Needless to say, Jake did not enjoy the other kids as much as I did and definitely didn't want his picture taken with the other babies.

Jacob Loves his new Jeep - and running over the dog...

My new hats - it seems I like the Braves and Pirates...not the baseball team, the other pirates.

Sorry, Andy did this and didn't realize you can't turn the camera when shooting video, but hang in there - the kisses are worth it...
